Remember these and many other post-war print copies sold off at a bargain price as wartime originals from the Witt estate back in Sept. 2010 ?

They lacked all the resolution of real wartime photos.

When I got mine which I naïvely ordered I almost vomited holding them in hands and I returned them right away to get a refund for the EUR 940 I had spent. The seller denied and denied, said he saw them 100% original, but luckily I got my money back.

Most photos were sold off into other collections and sitting there with the owners believing firmly that they hold treasures from the Witt estate in their hands...right...

Is there any historical background on Kurt Rinne ?

Last year an individual from Germany, personally known to me, presented the tunic of an SS-Leader in an article for "Internationales Militaria Magazin", together with the biography of this leader who had passed in October 2010.

He had presented this tunic to me independently in an email and told me how he got it from the veteran only shortly before he had passed. He was very proud and loved to show it off.

I only smiled: What this individual did not know at the time he showed me the tunic was that I had only been with the old officer veteran of the LSSAH at his home with my wife and son two months prior to his death.

And guess what? - NO TUNIC, no award docs, only a few badges and a couple of photos. When I asked for a uniform the vet only laughed about my question and told me how it was the first thing he threw away when crossing the Enns on May 8, 1945.

Bottom line: The collector colleague from Germany waited until the old chap died, so the oldtimer could not tell the real story anymore and then he young collector pulled out a put-together tunic which he presented in the Militaria Magazine! The uniform as such was a fake post war French made tunic, so the base material wasn't even real, beside the fact that the tunic had Heer shoulderboards without LAH cyphers!!!
I wouldn't be surprised that the tunic was sold to a naïve collector since then, on the basis of its publication in the militaria magazine.

A lot of twisted minds out there.

Buyers beware. Stay 100% original with a small collection of items and don't try to impress others with things you believe are original because a dealer tells you so.

You will never impress the guys who really know their stuff and have quality collections.

            Never!

Don't delude yourself, John, much more than four, many just wisely stay away. You also do not realize that here are collectors reading your boasting who not just handled but own 10 times more tunics than you ever saw. How ridiculous it really is, Mr. expert.

Are you keeping track Achtung? I have to laugh at your silly post ...you think I don't know a lot of people do not like me? Do you think I care? They have handled a lot more huh? Good, were they all real? So far a lot of bold talk and very little substance to show for it I know one collector who had closets full all bad though so yes he did handle more...Im hurt though that you don't like me...Mr. expert. Who might you be behind that pseudonym ...

Markus Im sorry you went through that, youre a true Historian and not a market investor.

It is silly to call my post "silly" as you can easily be banned for it, read the rules, smart. You have been banned from one forum before forgot already? Enjoy your collection instead.

Thank you John. I appreciate it coming from you.

The daughter of said SS leader actually mailed me her fathers post-war engraved TK ring he had proudly worn everyday after the war. She wrote that her father would have wanted me to have it.

Those are the things that really matter to me.

There is nothing wrong with investing in authentic SS items - in fact it is one of the wisest investments and has ever been so far.

You did the same - so what?!
