Even higher, any numbers at 200.000 and up
How far up do they go?

The funny thing is the numbers don't go higher. They weren't even supposed to be as high as the one shown. In fact in 1944, it was reported to Himmler that only 176500 of the Hoffstatter ZAs and 2925 Gahr versions were produced.

That fact has always made me feel uncomfortable with these badges numbered over 179425. I know they look good and all, but when I have a document that specifically states for the RFSS the number produced, I keep searching for some additional info that justifies the higher numbers. Otherwise, it is just a leap of faith for me.

The RFSS decided to cease production of these in 1939 because of silver shortages. These facts have been published in Angolia's article on the ZA in The Military Advisor and also in the Gahr book.

Joe, can you remember what issue of the Military Advisor the ZA article is in?

Would like to try and find a copy if it is still available.

Summer of 1990 G-Man. You were just a kid then? Hah! Just a page article. There were other writings that I have tried to incorporate into an updated piece for Bender, but I can't pull the trigger.

If they make you feel uncomfortable from 179425 why not from 176500 from when it was reported to HH, Lakesidetrader has the SS stickpin number 184884 for sale for $700 does that make it Fake?
