I think that was a theory floated once right here on WAF, could be... But I am working on that and have some possible leads but the SS primary documents are still proving to be a bit vague so far,and not conclusive enough.
If I ever get it nailed down airtight, I will share it.

    This is a handsome specimen.

I acquired another 6 dot so just out of interest I put a teelite inside this standard normal 6-dot Julleuchter, and lit it up, just as how it's photographed on the cover of Germanien Magazine. In less than 1 minute and a half the beeswax was liquid in the candle cup at the top. There's no way you could run a Julleuchter like that, as depicted in Germanien, you would just have a liquid mess! Maybe the photographer just wanting a fancy pic for the magazine

I did a quick test with the Julleucter that starts this thread, same thing , light inside and even after 5 mins its still relatively cool at the top, wax not melting. Big difference, that different top chamber works well to dissipate the heat lower down, leaving the top relatively cool. Lower down at the heart it gets hot and the wax there was going softer so I didn't let it go on any longer, I didn't want to start melting the wax and changing the look of it. I like the dirt and wax on it How long you could run this one internally lit with a candle in the top I don't know but there is a big difference between the two styles of Julleuchter.

        Great thread.

There might be a reason why the top is plugged that way....maybe a totenkopf ring is encased in there?!!

I managed to get a couple more Julleuchter since starting the thread so I put three together for a picture.

The one that starts the thread I would say is from 1935, then the 6-dot in the middle from 1936 and then one from 1944 that I bought with its award document from from the Granddaughter of the veteran who received it. So at least 9 years between the one on left and the 1944 model on the right.

The 1944 made Julleuchter, looks like a brick, weighs in like a brick too, it's 37% heavier than a 6-dot!

This 1944 piece may well have been made at a DEST brick factory, maybe Neugamme. Does anyone know for sure if the K marked pieces are from Neugamme? There are some on display there I believe, maybe the marks can be seen.

              marks on 6-dotter

Just to add my 6 dot julleuchter marks here....I notice that it is more the color of the 1st one on the left in Steve's photo and it has the similar crisp edges on all 4 sides as well.
