    Unusual SS Armband

Hi Guys, I have the below armband that was purchased in a hotel buy last month with a bunch of other armbands, (all original) from a Vet's family. The back of it is unusual as the roundel is attached in white thread and the rayon strips are attached in yellow thread. Also the reverse is NSDAP stencilled. Anyone ever seen on like this before? As always your help is appreciated.

          SS armband

Nice original armband, but not original SS. The black stripes are too close to the white roundel. Probably a party armband/SA made into SS during the period.

            ss band

            all original from NS era

but also in my opinion a party band ( the same construction I found in rad uniforms)
with two black stripes ; converted for use in SS uniforms

the white stamp is tipicall for party stoff, here red.

I don't think it's remade I've seen remade. Here is a example with folded edges as it in factory done - under the black stripes. Normal NSDAP armband has folded edges to the backside, and noone will make a headache to cut and restitch back. IMO just a variant

                Nice Armband

I cannot say for sure if this was originally SS or a converted band but either way I agree it was likely period done . I used to own an SS band with a white NSDAP and RZM stamping and it also had a paper ss rzm tag as well ,got it from Mowhawk arms in the early eighties .

I also agree it is an original period armband.
Concerning the stamp, I have kind of a similar one on a party armband. As yours, mine isn't complete.
                  Between ( ) is what I suppose it's written:
                  (N.S.)D.A.P {a big RZM logo}
                  (Arm)binden-Tuch.

My armband couldn't fit any black stripes as there is not enough space to sew them on the armband. It's height is 10,8 cm and the roundel around 9,5 cm.
As member espenlaub said, I can't imagine someone cuting and restitching the back just to add the black stripes…
Then I think it was originally done this way and not converted for use in SS uniforms.

                    Armband

Yes, I agree, that is a compelling argument regarding the edge folding. However, the close proximity of the stripes to the roundel and the yellow thread being used on the back leaves me to wonder if this armband truly started life as SS. Not convinced.
