    Compelling Image of Vet souvenirs

This batch of German souvenirs allegedly came from the vet in this mess kit,
as shown. The LAH board has a taller than wartime, monogram, cut from a pre-war board and sewn to the surface of a wartime board.
This is one of the photos that was submitted to Mike Beaver for his SS Insignia book. It will be used on the front cover of the French language edition and probably on the back cover of the US edition.
Every collector who has seen this photo seems to like it a lot.

Was the book taken over by Bill Shea like the headgear book? Thanks, and a great photo whether real or staged.

re: completion of the Mike Beaver SS Insignia project

I posted some details about this on the recent thread concerning Ulric's
soon to be released book on Allgemeines insignia. Bill Shea actually
handed the project over to me almost 2 years ago. Last year I worked on it from April to October and it has been in the hands of a Michigan printer since then, undergoing design and image modifications. Hopefully it will be in print in time for the MAX show. Heimdal is also doing a French language edition, with a different layout, which will be released in June. Mike Beaver's name will appear as the primary author on the US edition, as was done with the helmet and headgear books completed for him by Kelly Hicks and Bill Shea.
The layout and text and captions were done by myself but I will be listed as co-author. Mike collected hundreds of photos for the book from many famous collectors before his passing. The thrust of this book is the German Waffen SS divisions, with emphasis on souvenirs brought back by GIs on the western front. Kelly Hicks might possibly do a followup edition on Allgemeines insignia, VT and TV insignia and foreign volunteer stuff. more news about the book will be announced here in the future, as publication time draws nearer.

                    Great image

The blue tint has to go before print though!

                      Mark,

I beg your pardon. I do apologize as I had no idea. Nothing is quite like doing a ton of work and no one knowing or noticing. I look forward to it. Do keep us posted on it's progress and I have made a mental note about your involvement...so that means I had better write it down.

Keep up the good work...and thank you!

Few readers have a grasp of the work and gray hair generated with a large/detailed work such as Mark is doing. At least until they try to do something with new data themselves.
