Photo of ss soldier with political eagle

    Hi!

As the title describes. I got this photo yesterday and are now wondering if this was of common practice, and why this type of insignia was used?

    Thanks in advance!

Adon, I believe this was simply something that happend sometimes. For a soldier, a eagle was probebly just an eagle. There are quite a few photos of Soldiers who have attached metal skulls to their sidecaps (I do belive there is a quite famous photo of Jochen Peiper wearing a Heer officers schiffchen with a metal SS skull).

Concerning political eagles, it can be added (as you are also Swedish) that SS-Ustuf. Hans-Caspar Kreuger (a Swedish SS-Kriegsberichter) wore a political eagle on his schirmmütze.

          Thanks for the answers gents!
One of my friends showed me a photo of Kreuger yesterday when we discussed this. And as you say, he also wears a political eagle

          Regards

One of my favorite pictures of a Swedish volunteer if we are thinking about the same picture I really like the fact that he wears his swedish army sport badges on the SS-tunic!
