I got burnt years ago with a beautiful camo painted Waffen-SS M35 DD. It still hangs on the wall to remind me that...

Since that time I have tried to purchase 2 different SS DD M35s. One was mixed reviews and the other Luckily for me I joined this forum and asked for the reviews and opinions. Each was returned for full refunds.

One day I'll get that nice SS helmet and I'll be better prepared to make the decision on my own... but it never hurts to ask here first.

BTW, I'm a Middle Tennessee boy.
Yeah, after everyone pointed out the problems with the decals it became more apparent to me. I still didn't see the water-slide tell-tale marks on the SS rune decal, but it became obvious on the party shield decal when you angled the helmet and let light reflect on it. FYI to everyone, I was able to return the helmet today and got everything back. Live and learn!

Middle Tennessee? Good to have some more "local" collectors around. Look forward to hearing from you more!

Yes, making "relics" is a new (if I can say) way of getting rid of collectors' suspicions. It was the case for this one (I mean the suspicions), even if it's in a far better condition than "relic" ; but a good one it was, even if nobody was interested in it.

      But I was.
Unfortunately, another M.42, I must be cursed...

        Chris,

I just love 'em like that!
        Any history to it?

Well Ben, the only interesting story about this lid concerns the feary who bent over my cradle a few years back : obviously, the b*** had some powers...

About the decal, it's was nearly 100 % when the war ended ; unfortunately the rust (and rust only) damaged it postwar.

Ken, let us know about your refund ; hopefully, you asked for opinions !

Chris, I was able to get everything I put into the helmet back. The dealer I bought it from was suprised to hear it was not real, but refunded me without any complaint.
