    SS DD Relic Helmet

Thought I would share a purchase I made about a year ago. Although it is a relic helmet, I think it is pretty fascinating. Hope you enjoy!

A typical maneuvre of the fakers: to put SS decals on relic shells. The fact that the helmet is a mdl 40 should have made you be very wary.

                    Wow

It is just amazing how the decals look. The rust and the aging is so good. If I had a helmet like that I would had bought it too.

I'll agree, it is a magnificent job. The thing that put me off immediately was the sig runes though, they just don't look right to me. Still, had I seen one of these I probably would have snatched it up...it's a nice piece if it cost under $100.00, but I'm sure it probably didn't

                      Damn fakers...

This sort of fakes like posted above quite easy to identify. Take a look at this example of faked decal produced over here. Just an artwork ...Fakers use a water transfer decals as well as just paint decal on helmet.

Interesting, the fakers who made the last decal seem to have some knowledge, it looks to me as if the most worn places are exatly the spots that are most wrong made on those decals...

                            Bummer!

Thanks for all the input from everyone. I cannot say that I was pleased with the feedback. Like many of you mentioned, the decals looked pretty good to me. I should be able to get my money back, so hopefully no loss. I think I need to post a few of my other items up to be sure.

                            Thanks again!

                              Hello Ken,

Chalk it up to experience. Luckily for you, you feel you can get your money back.

I got burnt years ago with a beautiful camo painted Waffen-SS M35 DD. It still hangs on the wall to remind me that...

Since that time I have tried to purchase 2 different SS DD M35s. One was mixed reviews and the other Luckily for me I joined this forum and asked for the reviews and opinions. Each was returned for full refunds.

One day I'll get that nice SS helmet and I'll be better prepared to make the decision on my own... but it never hurts to ask here first.

BTW, I'm a Middle Tennessee boy.
