Ok, my 240 (so far!) silent colleagues, updates:

            - i can tell you this ring belonged to ostbf. Wilhelm reischenbeck, a nasty piece o'work from refs i've got so far. (a dl citation would be helpful and i'd be most grateful if someone can look him up, please. I think he held the b'orden...)

            - as your silence is due to my inadequate pix, i'm having a pro photog bud make ones that should tell 'all' to the cognoscenti. I shd. Be able to load them today or tomorrow. I'd like reax to these asap.; the suspense is killing me! Stay tuned, and thanks again.

Wilhem Reischenbeck ,Untersturmfuhrer, SS# 3926. How do you know it was his? From what I can see I don't see anything obvious that it is not correct. It also has a trate I see ,that I won't go into that makes it very likely an original.

                Hey,
Even though I know zero-zip-nada about HR's, I would like to ask why, in Pic #5, the clear deliniation after the name 'Himmler', where at one point it is clean and then there is a nice, neat vertical line? Maybe you cleaned it to get a good look at the name, but I hate to take off old patina.
Good luck on getting someone to comment. The WAF is a great bunch of people and they always are ready to help.

                    thanks a lot, 'dolch!

re provenance: I'm still in early days, making inferences and sans proof. here's what I know - an ss offcr. named wilhelm REISCHENBECK served in kl-auschwitz, and was prosecuted for war crimes during the evac. of the kl and movement of its surviving interness to another camp in mar. '45 as the russians closed in.

he was sentenced to 10 years for killing some unknown # of 'fall-outs' during the evacuation or possibly ordering their killing. I haven't read his case files so can't speak further to this.

the yad vashem archives in jerusalem has a foto of this person I downloaded from their website in early ss kampfzeit uniform. there's also a 'net image of a REISCHENBECK cavorting with other officers at auschwitz. and I'm sure between the berlin doc. center an us nat. archives there's a god deal more t/b uncovered.

this is kindly supplied from a colleague here:

Reischenbeck, Wilhelm Ostuf. born 23. 6.02

                    SS# 3 926 SS-Kurierstelle 3 on 11.43

                    conforming with what you found.

assuming you or colleagues have various years of the DL, does a wilhelm 'REISCHENBECK' appear - specifically as as a HR holder - in any of them, please? that would help us a lot.

Wilhelm Reischenbeck first shows up in the 1936 DL which I don't have.He is in the 1937 DL and he does have a ring. You will find this interesting. There is also an Ewald Reischenbeck Untersturmfuher SS # 3346 in the same unit at the same time frame mid-1930"s Stammabt Bez 1= III/3 Stammabteilung Bezirf ?,Probably brothers both had the ring ,but again which bother owned your ring?

So who received the ring on this date?

                          Both Reischenbeck´s?

                          This is getting interesting!

Even a ring document will not show what the date on the ring was.The only thing I know is they were both in the same unit and they both recieved the ring at the same time, they were born 5 years apart. Both of them are in the SS totenkopfrig book by Patzwell, which shows who had early TK rings. Then you can look them up in the KEY to find out what DL they are in.
