Hi, not good news I am afraid Paddy. The greatcoat is a postwar example. It will have been rebuttoned. It exhibits the wrong cut to the neck and the eagle is also a known repro. Sorry..

              Cheers, Ade.

Boy if this doesn't look like the match for one I sold a while back on ebay as a definite repro thanks to the people here. I got badly burned on mine. The eagle looks like the austrian repro "bowling pin" style that was on mine although mine was badly worn and shown the copper wire underneath the silver. I hope I am wrong. Chris

no bother i assumed it was indeed a repo! it turned up about the time saving private ryan finished filming here in ireland and the whole market was (and to be honest still is is!)flooded with stuff from the film!! though for a repo its nicley made and damn warm to wear to!!!(just like the real thing!!!)
                  cheers guys!!

Chris, this eagle appeared in the UK mid-late 70's attached to repro tunics (never seen one loose) and is different from the one you had.Yours was at least a plausible example, this has no defined legs/feet and isn't metallic at all.If memory serves yours was the older (60's),plated copper type wasn't it ?

                    Cheers,Ian.
