Originally they are worn attached to a SS armband,I owned an SS Baueinsatz -Ost tunic I bought from Robert Hassler,there is enough info on this work related branch to fill a thimble,TRUST ME,Ive searched every nook and cranny,books upon books,very LITTLE is known about them other than they were mostly made of foreigners working for the SS on the construction of the eastern settlements,building and transportation.
There is one known photo of the armband in wear with the red wool SS armband in conjunction with it,a friend claimed to have another,but turned out he was mistaken,and they are mentioned fleetingly in non English books,and even then its just in relation to other workings of the SS-Bau
.Strange there is even a fake of this band! I paid to have one made for my tunic until I could get a real one,so those are out there but they are just as obvious,but EM.

Script is not made of aluminium wire and is yellowing.

It's a fake with text made of plated copper ... hence the green verdigris copper-oxide. There were bad sleeve eagles made from the same material.
