Hi Am i right in thinking this is a machine embroidered bullion officer tab made at dachau around 1944.Cant seem to find many examples on the net.

I've seen hundreds up on hundreds of bullion SS rune tabs over the last 30 years, and I would have called that one bad. But I am far from being an expert, I've never studied them. I've owned a few and like I said, seen more than I can count. The quality of the bullion looked wrong to me. The "surfaces". I'm assuming this is what makes it identifiable as a Dachau tab? Definately a "late war" tab...lots of them have been around over the past ten years..some stitched to tunics post war.

These are not the usual hand-embroidered bullion , but rather machine-stitched " tinsel " aluwire , which gives them a distinguishing sparkle . The tabs also tend to have the white " guiding " threads on the reverse , and can sometimes be found with a blank unissued rank tab - still attached to each other .
Here machine-stitched compared to hand-embroidered Bullion & machine-woven Flatwire ..
