          I see a nice original piece with decent patina.

            Nice one, near mint finish but what's that spot on it,a bit of cake? Ps. It's not patina, chocolate brown is how they are.

                You´re right - after 70 years there is no patina on a piece of metal yet.

                Especially not when it´s SS made.

                        To keep in context of the post, I'm speaking of SS medals which is what's on this topic, not a piece of metal.

                        Yes, true on SS medals if they are mint, see higher grades as well, centre and right, both mint and no patina. The surfaces don't readily oxidise to form a patina when intact..
