    SS Officer Buckle for Review

    Hello again to all,

Here are some photos I just took of an SS officer buckle I picked up a while back. If there are no problems with its authenticity it will be on the E-stand soon.

As you can see, poor storage has played havoc with the metal over the years. I have closeups of the stampings on the rear if anyone needs to see them.

    Thanks for any opinions,

    Steve NY

The extra hook to the right doesnt go with the buckle.....the aluminum on these later buckles loops, and belt attachments many times cracked apart and disintigrate. Anyway, im sure you already know this.

Thanks, I wasn't sure, but that extra piece was mixed in with many other items and "looked" like it might be related to the buckle. Do you have any idea what it is from?

          Thanks

your extra hook is from EM belt, just for typical EM buckle.

He's right....likely for a heer buckle...they usually have a makers mark stamped on them.(look close on photo one, and on each side of the hooks strengthening raised rib so look close with a loupe(back of hook top first photo)..so you can match it up...they are stitched into the belt end...and this may have come from a relic belt discarded along the way ,i'd assume...i have about 5 of these with different makers marks, and there had to be one for every maker id assume, so sometime maybe we should do a thread showing the markings. I even have some ww1 hooks for that thread if someone ever starts one.
