    convoluted and contentious

In all seriousness, but still not much help:
When it comes to any Lebensborn purported item be more skeptical than ever.
This is a contentious theme in collecting.
For one reason, little is really well known.
Another: the collecting world refrains from reading scholarly works (only a few of them anyway)
Another: Himmler knew well enough to keep this institution quiet and not have it written up about much.

Another: The conquering nations made a giant propaganda operation on this topic ala "SS stud farm" and the SS vets denounced it all as untrue. (I personally suspect the truth is somewhere in the middle )

and to confuse the issue even more: there was a Lebensborn organization /movement that was pre- overt nazi or SS involvement that may have nothing to do with the SS sponsored one.

Years ago, I was able to obtain a superb Lebensborn Photograph Album (now long gone from my collection), this compiled and kept by one of the Nurses. Wonderful photos of SS Officers with their "wives" (??) and newborns. I recall very clearly that the Nurses wore standard Red Cross armbands with a small (black) ink authorization / property stamp of the specific Lebensborn home they were assigned to.....no flashy "SS" runes, "It's a Boy !!!" T-shirts or "stains" of any type were to be seen...
