as mentioned in this thread i believe in this theory but i am also convinced (by proofs) that SS contractors built tunics in 3 step lining.

In this thread was asked if someone ever seen m36 tunics in 2 step lining original weared by wh. Here the Petra tunic on estand

If the 2 step (=SS) and 3 step(= Heer) liner theory is legit,
than perhaps this tunic started life as a Waffen SS contract
and got recycled and converted for Heer use...
Any signs of a former W-SS eagle on the sleeve?

Note 2 sets of size stamps indicative of rework and added French cuffs...
Extra wide collar as well.. Much better suitable for SS collar tabs and Heer officers Litzen!
It is obviously a reworked tunic (with also sew in officers boards!)

Explain better: not all ss contractors bulit in 2 step and gir sure at least 1 knoen exclusive ss contractor built in 3 steps

That tunic has been heavily tailored- the green collar is likely an addition.

Since I started this thread, some things have come to light after pawing more and more tunics.

1. The ONLY trait that is ALWAYS different on SS M36/M40s is the shorter skirt, which, if the stamps are still legible, is very easy and fail safe way to call it.

2. There are SS tunics with "3 step lining", hand tacked suspender channels, breast pockets not sewn through the lining etc. All sewing 100% identical to Heer. BUT, the skirt is always shorter and the stamps will quickly identify them.

3. Stamps: SS M36/M40's can have nothing but the size block, depot and maker marks like Heer tunics, or SS-BW and number blocks. About any combination goes.

4. The 2 step lining, pockets sewn through the lining (this allows contractors to dispense with the hand tacking on the suspender channels) and all the other assembly quirks peculiar to some SS tunics appear to be related to who made them: Uniforms made by contractors that also made Heer tunics (Gg Schwert) tend to be identical to Heer tunics, aside from the shorter skirt. This is likely to prevent mass confusion among the workers, when switching between different contracts. Uniforms made in SS shops or contractors who mostly do SS contracts (SSBW's, M. Mayerhofer) have the sewing changes, all of which are simplifications that save time. Again, the number block alone will distinguish SS tunics immediately.

about my army panzer tunic with SS cut - did not have any SS eagle shade.

I was used since the beginning as a WH tunic, even though it has SS Cut, the officers cuffs were added later. So it has an officer update.
