    Ritterkreuzträger der LAH

Someone can help me to discover the name of those 12 men in the painting
Ritterkreuzträger der Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler, 1942 of the artist Ernst Krause? In the center General Josep "Sepp" Dietrich.

Most are quite easily recognizable, but I do not have time to go through the list now. Are you sure this is a period painting or illustration? Looks more like something that would be done in more recent times as the uniform detail is rather dazzling.

The SS beret insignia is off by quite a bit, if we were to get technical. Still a very nice illustration. I could see that hanging in quite a few collection rooms...copies that is.

Thanks for sharing it, I have not seen it before.

Saw it more than 10 years ago as a CD cover for SS marchs.

Very well know painting by SS Oberscharfuhrer Ernst Krause, who also designed the Eastern Front medal. The painting was given to Hitler by the LSSAH and exhibited in Munich during 1942. It was later lost during the war. Most likely destroyed.

          Hello,

I´m not sure about the other men. I think there is also Fritz Witt and Heinrich Springer on the right side, but wait for other opinions.

I for one am certainly happy to hear that is is/was a period original painting. I will give it another look when I have some time and see if I can identify anyone else. Too bad if this was lost.

            Thanks for posting it.

I would make a slight correction to that, No.5 being in fact Fritz Witt... Not Teddy Wisch... (unless of course you were indicating the guy behind in which case I would say that is Wisch )

I wouldnt mind looking into where to purchase a print of this... anyone know if or where they are available?

              Cheers,

Note the nice golden custom-made insignia Sepp Dietrich wore from mid-war onwards...
