I have heard this is a copy of, although close to, an original arm eagle.
the runic tab looks good!! agree folds on reverse seem large but construction looks good to me!! is this a well known copy??

Thats a quite different eagle.
The initial eagle is well known fake.
It is listed in the fakes thread on top of this page, hence my comment to wishes.

I am surprised that people with experience do not browse through this thread that has a very good selection of known fakes. I often look at this thread.

Regarding the collar tab the construction as mentioned is a warning, and a quite odd buckram. The runes are not on par with know originals. The shape of the runes are not correct. Its a fake IMHO. A few years ago a similar example was posted and sat on a SS tropical jacket.

So far I think most reproduction insignias are made after originals and they try to mimic them with various result.

I find that the weft ( the support) of collar tabs is a various on the list of copies.
The eagle is really hard has to identify for me, it is true that it also looks like that sold by mario.

I'd like to bring this thread back to the top, with a hope not to bore anybody but with thanks to felix for pointing out the value of the fake section in this section.
I'd still like to see better pictures of the runic tab at very top and feel it maybe needs to be added to the fake sedtion if Gary wood feels it right.
also, Gary, in that section could i bring to the attention of all #308 the embriodered runic tabs from 'ITALY' they are very convincing copies!! could we see reverses please?
thanks again felix for putting me straight, my interest is runic tabs and i've missed out on what is available to us all and which may save some from very expensive mistakes!!
