...if i am correct this is a period pic so i guess the patch is legit, at least the one the pic even though i haven't seen it before and i do have all the books on this subject and tons of material, damn...

Vent holes i agree but W-SS bergmutze also had long visors as well, hundreds of period pics, reference books and original caps prove it !!!
Most people think that a W-SS bergmutze has a short visor as the WH bergmutze which is not correct of course even though some W-SS bergmutze that have a tk on the front and eagle on the side do have a shorther visor which is also not a rule ( see Beaver's book" .... Allgemeine and Waffen-SS headgear )!
