Now a question from a newbie, even I can tell that there is more than a couple of bucks in that case.

How does one go about insuring such a collection, do you have to buy special insurance of some kind?

yeah, that's a nice case full of cool stuff and I like the newspaper being displayed underneath. Now you need a leitheft in there too! Does the pistol have any ss markings?
