Well for starters, the crossbones and suture details are lacking entirely, the details that should be there. The first giveaway should have been the material that the skull is made of. This material is only found on cast fakes. They put some nice prongs on this piece to make it convincing to most, but not to fool those who know what they are looking at. This is not a fake that you will see often, but I have seen them before. The markings are also weak. Higher quality photos would easily magnify these flaws.

You are correct, it is not CupAl, nor is it zinc, or tombac, or brass, or any other material that was ever used for originals.
