    2 SS armbands (+/-)

To armbands. Booth supposed to be late war manufaction. One is from the Obersalzberg area. Booth have printed swaz. One of them has thread left from beeing attached to a uniform. Noone of them glows under UV-light. Booth are nicely assembled.

These are certainly not what you would call "textbook" examples -- very poor construction and incorrect materials. I would stay away.

the first armband is from the obersalzberg area, he had really no resaon to fake stuff, could it be a homemade piece or assembled from real parts?

I do like the backing on the first one. Appears to be the proper wool material. Also the upper/lower stripes have the right corduroy effect. The rest of it, I'm not sure. If you're happy with where they come from and can get them reasonable, go for it. The only unfortunate thing is trying to prove their authenticity to the next guy.

If i was offered these i would pass no matter how cheap,

1st band, while the base red and black borders look OK the centre part could be from a printed party band or a fake band, why mix, I can only surmise that maybe the centre was damaged and has been replaced, but when?????

2nd band; looks very misshapen also the insert on the back looks like it is printed, which in theory would mean that you would cut up another band to extend this.

although there are those thank think printed ss bands are period i would never buy a printed ss band as a period piece .
          cheers,
          Gary

            HI Gary
I think the first have been denazified or damaged and that it was homerepaired, hopefully by a soldier during wartime. But like you say, hard to know when. The red fabric seems to be stone original to me.

On the second, the insert is not printed, I should say painted, looks very homemade. At least not printed in the same quality as a the center swaz.

lAbout printed armband. I believe it could be possible. At the end of the war when the German warmachine was going down, they simplified many things, couldnt they have one the same to armbands? Printing a cross takes much less time then sewing one, also one could believe that different fabric was used. Like the italian camo fabric, aquired by the germans....... Just my thoughts......
