Bargain?

Thr tunic certainly was a bargain, but it will never be more than a humped up, put together and may or may not resemble what it once was. That is fine as long as it is never sold as original, which is the real problem in collecting.

Close up!
Picked this tab up at the "Confederate Airforce" (nowadays "Commemorative Airforce"..politically more correct)
Air show in Midland Texas in 1992 for a whopping $50 bucks. (tunic removed) Those were the days!Last edited by NickG; 09-09-2011, 11:05 PM.

What style arm eagle are you going with? (embroidered or bevo) and why?
Just curious (Jealous),

more affordable! You have a spare Jack?
BeVo enlisted and even flat wire silver quality would both be nice too... but expensive. Definately not an officer grade bullion bird...
The hunt begins, but first I need to receive the tunic. In transit from Europe since last Monday I was informed. Hopefully it will hit next week!

I'd be looking forward seeing it "restored" Nick. Succes!

Hello Nick,
I'm really looking forward to see it with the insignia. May I do a suggestion? What about using a "Frw. Legion Niederlande" cufftitle instead of the "Nederland" cufftitle? That would be absolutaly fabulous with the tams and the Dutch shield.
(Of course that cufftitle is a bit rare and expensive)

First off Ive never heard of Nick being a huge"seller" so why even point that resale remark out Bob,by now isnt resell of restored tunics that elementary knowledge....dont do it,we all know that.Seriously, when you read into some comments here even by respected collectors such as Bob I get a bit worried.
SS is THE only faction of collecting on the forum where everyone is SO RAEDY to burst bubbles, condemn or shoot people down,Im not talking about recognising fakes.Im talking about when someone is excited about a purchase etc.shows it here, then everyone jumps in with stupid, old hat and sometimes jealous remarks,I mean WHAT is the point really??
What happened to commeradery among collectors? Its not like the whole world collects.Newbie, small collector or big name,we all have been there.Encouragement is a very important part of collecting.FACE IT we all like to share our items, bargains, and maybe even show our nicer stuff off sometimes, thats one of the huge reasons to have a forum.
Already in this thread there are a couple people just making dull, boring and stupid comments.
Bob Im SURE your collection has several humped up uniforms,as a matter of fact Ive heard this many times.Does that bother you to hear that??Or have it pointed out?Im sure it does, why point out such an obvious thing about a stripped future restored tunic of someone else? Does it make you feel better about your awesome collection which has several restorations or questionable tunics?.PLEASE dont try to resell any of those restored tunics as real Bob....How redundant does that sound?Think about it.
I know its not exactly the same instance..why is it in SS collecting everyone is such a%%holes to each other?
I mean
"The tunic certainly was a bargain, but it will never be more than a humped up, put together and may or may not resemble what it once was. That is fine as long as it is never sold as original, which is the real problem in collecting."

How Boring.

These are all very valid reasons for the demise of future collecting . . . think long and hard about it some time.
And really . . . there are many people out there collecting this junk, living in glass houses, and seem to get a major thrill out of tossing stones, aren't there?
