SS Skull or Panzer?

Hey guys:

Sorry for my ignorance here, but is this an early SS or Panzer skull? I don't collect either and don't have much experience with this type of thing.

A picker pal bought a Pith Helmet with Heer shields, but this skull is on the front. I figured it was an SS skull maybe the Vet stuck on there, but then I thought it could have been a Panzer guys lid?

Sorry for the poor image, but my buddy texted me the image and I took a photo of my phone!

A jawless skull for caps ("tilted skull")! Used since Imperial times by the Prussian Leibhusaren, Freikorps, Wehrwolf, SS, Wehrmacht cavalry etc.

PS: Panzer skulls are smaller.

If you wind up with it...don't remove the skull. My step dad was in the 325th Ftr Grp " The Checkertail Clan" and he brought back a P 08 luger with holster from North Africa, and a panzer aluminum skull was pinned on the flap by it's former owner, who tossed it down a well befoore surrender.

Everything Sergeant 08 says is correct. This type is generally associated with Kavallerie-Regt. 5.
