It's a common fake...the coarse, bubbled texture is wrong.

I can't dismiss it based on these poor photos -- bad angles & poor lighting. The black finish is gone, but it may be original.

A wee bit more info on this; it is an example of the 4 year "Hybrid" fake ie. the medal itself shows remarkable similarities in the detailing, lettering & suspension loop to the alleged Deschler types, but the eyelet is in the style of the alleged Petz & Lorenz type SS medals. As already noted above, the stippling is the most obvious feature to cause concern, as it does not even come close to an accurate representation of the fine, hand tooled stippling which is evident on the various known originals of these awards.
These fakes started to appear on some of the well known dealers sites as originals (possibly honest mistakes, considering the overall quality) a few years ago, but, as recent as this year they have popped up on some of the more unscrupulous dealers sites with very contrived (possibly chemically induced) wear & damage. This damage is an obvious attempt at obscuring the exaggerated stippling & the incongruous eyelet & they are being offered as "ground dug" examples, usually with some fantastic story connecting them to famous Waffen SS last-stand battles.
N.B. My use of the Manufacturers' names "Deschler" and "Petz & Lorenz" is purely collector terminology and in no way reflects my own personal opinions on the actual makers associated with original SS-Service Awards.

This one would have had me fooled, the quality looks exceptional.
I would never dismiss a bronze 4 year service medal as I remember in my youth I had a 4 year medal and polished the black coating off…Oh! the naivety of one so young.

The opinions here are excellent and just go to prove the point that being a member is so worthwhile

                All the best
