What is the fundamental difference between smaller and larger runes on these Allgemeine tabs... ?
Would this be a date date difference .... ?

Hello David!

As to my knowledge rune tabs were used by SS VT/PB and not by Allg SS.
Perhaps some one more knowledgeable on Allg SS could correct me as I do not really collect Allg SS.

I am not sure what you mean with smaller runes? Perhaps you mean the style used up until late 1934 by PB?

The tab you posted is a rune tab used by LAH VT from 1938-1940. (paper tag)
When comparing size of runes one has to take the size of the tab itself in to the context.
