I have a collection of Australian, German, and Commonwealth military cutlery / flatware pieces whenever some. If I am realistic, wishful thinking aside, my third reich & SS cutlery seems to divide itself into pieces that are “probably good” ,“look right but questionable”, “probably fake”, and “no way”. Here are my “no way” bottom of the barrel bad-fake pieces with why I think that. None cost me more than $10 on a fuzzy picture or box lot. None are recognized Waffen flatware suppliers like Krupp, Neoveda, Roneusel, & Wellner). Don't claim to be an expert, but flatware pattern, maker, quality, material, marking size type and execution, and examination of markings under high magnification... I think all come up thumbs way down on these. The Colsman brand spoon is a domestic (rather than institutional) plated spoon with impact stamped embellishments through the plating, with stamping new clean bright under magnification, uneven, the SS considerably off square, and with considerable impact damage on the reverse. The Norblin brand spoon is plated, with the impact stamped embellishments dirty, but uneven & crude, of readily available stamps, small out of proportion to the piece, and with considerable impact damage on their reverse. Norblin is a Polish firm, and was probably never the source of legitimate Waffen SS flatware anyway. The Auerhahn brand rostfrei spoon is rotary machine engraved (slightly off center), with the engraving area clearly rubbed with steel wool to break the burrs, and the spoon pattern looking modern. The no name fork is a domestic plated item, rotary machine engraved through the plating, with the engraving new bright under magnification. Any additional thoughts on these duds?
