I am considering selling my SS totenkopfring, which was purchased directly from Don Boyle about 15 or 20 years ago. Don Boyle COA was lost long ago, but I'm sure he will verify the sale. Can anyone give me a ballpark figure or range what a moderately worn TK ring is going for these days? I never thought I would sell, but I want a new Gibson Les Paul, so here we are. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!

You know it G-Man
I'm sure they will bounce back though. I was at a massive show yesterday,W&P, saw maybe 6 or 7 on sale as authentic and they were ALL fake. I didn't see one real one.One guy had even srapped on the issue name and then humped together a 'grouping' featuring a dog tag and a rank chevron and wanted £3500 for it all. Compare that with maybe a dozen or so real 36 chained SS daggers and prob 20 or so 33 pattern SS daggers along with probably a good 100 SA daggers. So yes TK rings are out there to be bought and they were made in pretty substancial quantities but they are still not easily picked up at shows and not for low money for sure.

There is one very reputable dealer who has many original rings for sale at the 10K + price level and they are still all on his site unsold. I think that with all the threads on questionable rings, collectors who may have been interested are spending their money on a less controversial items JMO.
My ring was awarded to just an average Officer and the 5,000-6,000 range that I sold it for was current market value IMO.

Hello
Just my opinion, but just because there are controversies with the fake rings, should not deter anybody from still buying a ring. All you have to do is buy from a reputable person (that has a standing track record of honesty!) and buy it. If you don't buy one from a dealer, then you would be foolish not to vet it on a forum to have it checked out and if it needs it, then send to Don for authenication.
To me, the ring is the utimate piece. If everthing else goes in my collection, the ring will always stay.
If you don't want to wait and just have to have one and buy from questionable people or sites, well, then you deserve to be burnt. Whether it is a ring or other collectable, do your research or throw your money away. That sound harsh, but getting kind of tired about how people are getting burnt on items.
Hope this makes sense. Ron
