    SS "Germania" Officer M43 Photograph...

Would anyone be possibly able to positively identify the odd looking small grey/white (??) colored cloth (??) square directly below this "Germania" Officers (metal) eagle on the side of his M43 ???

Better pic of Demelhubers cap - definitely some kind of flag , with pole sticking out , and a horizontal stripe .. ?

At least not the Danzig badge (Heimwehr Danzig) I was thinking of. Could it be some sort of tourist badge, still very popular in Austria and southern Germany. Small metal badges, that you can buy after having climbed a certain mountain for example.

At the time , it was already of enough interest to Cornelis van Geelkerken ( Inspector-General Dutch Landwacht ) to borrow it for the picture on this Dutch " Collectible Cap Day " ..
