This is one of the more interesting finds I've seen on the Forum in a while. John, can you see any evidence of a breast eagle on the tunic?

No, I don't see any trace of an eagle on the breast. I recently bought this grouping from a relative of a U.S. WWII veteran. The relative said the grouping has been stored in a closet.

I get the feeling that the Heer style eagle could be original to the jacket.

This to me...imho....looks like a soldier took all these items and made up a tunic and put some insignias on the hat just to make them more interesting...the arm eagle may very well be original to the tunic. I have seen pics of this kind of thing done ...a sort of "trench art".
