Here are photos of the tunic, hat and other items that came in the box with the SS aiguilette. I raalize this is an odd assortment of items, and would sincerely appreciate any opinions as to the authenticity of the tunic, visor hat and the various insignia and other items.

Its a slapped together piece...The SD raute has aweful embroidery it appears...fake...
crooked letters...
SD always had a black tab (2 rank tabs does not make sense unless its Volkssturm I guess). Another red flag...The tab piping btw is silver edged, appropriate for officers but this is an NCO ranked piece...
The NCO shoulderstraps appear to be black backed which is appropriate for 2nd type SD shoulderboards and nicely fitted could be authentic to this piece.
The overabundance of medals and ribbons is another questionmark,
(Including even a Dutch NSB medal black and red ribbon!)
Ribbon bar is way too big...3 seperate bars probably...some WH some LW medals, a mix...
The SS and KvK medals have the wrong ribbons...SS one is a cast fake even...
The good news is that the base tunic is good. It even as the attachment for a collar protector, (ringkragen) a good sign!
The arm eagle is a Wehrmacht type... and sometimes used by SS/SD , a possibility...
So some good some bad...definately restorable!Last edited by NickG; 06-26-2011, 01:21 PM.

Pants are walking out/parade pants for Army verwaltung (Administration) in early stone gray with green admin waffenfarbe. Mismatch for SD if this is even an SD tunic...
Cap appears to be SS officers type with black velvet band and incorrect cockade added.
Could be SD used but is an officers type, not matching the tunic...which has NCO boards...
Not sure on autheniticity but looks promising...however just like the tunic it has mis-matched parts...Last edited by NickG; 06-26-2011, 01:22 PM.

If the black body + toxic green piped SD NCO boards are original to the tunic,
it is an SD tunic for an NCO in SD service.
Btw SD NCO's sometimes wore officer cut tunics (in superior officers gabardine cloth as shown, with fake French cuffs to show their authoritive position over other branches.
Probably stripped post war and incorrectly restored...
when fixed it could look something like this:Attached Files

Or as an SD officer like this: (rank matching now)
not sure if SD NCOs with officer candidate status had silver edge piping on their tabs,
but if thats plausable the tabs "as is" would work with the NCO boards that are currently on it.
You would have to ditch the pips on one side though (this provided these parts are real. )
and if he's an officer candidate, that would mean that the SS cap (now with wrong insignia)
could be legit with these NCO SD boards!
(and a good match with officers rank of course if switched as illustrated below)
All the components are exciting...just needs to be rearranged / fixed! It probably did go through some Halloween conversions after so many decades!...but very restorable!Attached FilesLast edited by NickG; 06-26-2011, 02:23 PM.
