Worn SS Runic Tab help please

Hi all , i have just come across this worn / tunic removed SS Runic Tab & what puzzles me is that there is no evidence of any stitch holes on it . Is this unusual for such a worn piece ?

what makes you think this is a copy? i'm interested.
the black base material looks to me really nice
maybe the reverse 'buckram' is not textbook and the folds possibly a bit sharp but what about the runes?
must say my instinct says good, please tell me more.

I am just not impressed with the shape of the runes.

Difference in lighting and wear, of course.

I think it has been messed with in some way. It looks like is has detorioated a bit, and then probably reglued, hence the strange shape.
The wear looks strange, maybe artificial IMO.
