Did those collar tabs ever exist and is there any evidence to back this up .... ?

Nice uniform. not sure I could have justified the money at the sos show.
Not convinced it's SS-VT or SS-TV. they usually did not wear the collar tab or the cuff title shown here.
the II is for the SS sub district of chemnitz (also dresden). worn ONLY by personnel on the STAFF of that sub district.
This would make it Allgemeine -SS...... not ss-tv or ss-vt.
the uniform (earth brown) was introduced march 1936 as a work uniform.
the ss-tv men were not allowed to wear it out side of the camp they worked in .SO not them.
and I don't believe the ss-vt used this shoulder board ... lowest ranks used shoulder boards closer looking to the army type (IN pairs) usually with sewn cyphers of their own standarte.
black uniform = single Allgemeine type. work uniform (brown or gray) worn in pairs (all ranks).
good uniform ,yes . an Allgemeine "work" uniform. jeff

They wore such boards, and as well double boards in this type.
And about earth brown tunics, introduced yes but possible made years before already from the other parts of the Army.

Wait a minute why is the eagle a VT eagle ?? Allgemeine SS didnt utilize the VT eagle as a matter of fact at this point they used no eagle on this type tunic several pics Ive seen of the grey uniform with WW1 black helmet and no arm eagle...It was armband or nothing on any grey A-SS tunic of the time correct??.

Robert said this early shoulderboard style was indeed used also by VT. Just strange to me tabs are machine sewn on a tunic of this type.Surely not his dress tunic!!! Maybe not unusual?NOt 100% on that,as these rae far and few.

The eagle is a mystery to me,I really dont think It belongs with Allgemeine insignia of any nature..am I wrong here??

I'm still looking /waiting to see a period photo showing this sleeve eagle in wear.

There are plenty of photo's of the correct style (imo) that exist

I'm not convinced by this one at all...even of the originality of the base tunic...

I used to own that tunic. It has originally applied insignia. What everyone is missing is that this is not a drill tunic but a lightweight Allgemeine-SS service tunic. The eagle is as much a mystery to me as to anyone else, but I do not see any evidence of a sewn on armband.

The tunic was sold, at the SOS, to a speculator who consigned it to Oak Leaf Militaria because he saw a profit potential.

I would have loved to keep the collar tabs for my collection, but do not strip tunics for the insignia.

I thought it didnt jibe, the eagle just throws me.A service tunic??No way...doesnt shout that to me AT ALL.No lining?Even lightweight still I think a lining would be there in a service tunic like this.Still think its a drill or work tunic. This is just mixed up with good insignia to fool I believe also. The tunic itself looks ok,I think if its good,it came without ANY A-SS insignia and started out with JUST the eagle and meant for VT.A staff member wouldnt be wearing this as a service tunic Im sorry.

                            Tunic

Cuff band is very early white border, 33-34 time frame.

This is the pre 1938 straight wings first pattern left looking ss sleave eagle and a picture of its use by LAH can be found in the Bender WSS insignia book.
II-collar is for Dresden SS-district and the II-band denotes staff personnel.
I see nothing wrong with this combo to be honest, just very rare and early!
(but the author of this great book could be terribly wrong ofcourse...)
