I picked this cover up recently for $80 from a guy in Poland. From the seller's pictures it looked like the material had a chance of being good so I took a shot at it. Since I really don't have much experience with SS helmet covers I showed it to a couple of collectors who's opinions I really respect. They both agreed that the material was original and that the helmet was most definitely not a factory produced cover. So I wanted to post it up here for more opinions and wondered if there is any chance that it was a field or depot made wartime SS cover? Since they only used Palm pattern for clothing this material would have had to come from a smock and given the value of those even in the saltiest of conditions it doesn't seem likely that some one would destroy one to make this cover, at least to me. And if they were going to do that I would imagine that they would attempt to get more than $80 for it.... but I suppose anything is possible. Thanks for the opinions. -Jeremy

I think the material has a good shot of being real but the construction is post war. I'm not liking the construction, springs nor the wear and fading under the seams.
