    SS M44 Tunic & Trousers

    Hi everyone,
I aquired some years ago now a SS M44 tunic and trousers of rank SS Schutsz I think. It has size stampings on the tunic, is unlined and has no BW marks that I can see. It is pea green in colour. My query is the fact that I have never seen any photos of SS men in M44 uniforms, and I am wondering whether they exist for real at all. I tried UV light on it and there is no glow. Anyone out there have any pics for me to look at?

SS M44 tunics did in fact exist! I cant remember ever seeing a M44 Army or SS tunic being worn in period combat pics only in period pics of POW camps,The Germans were losing the war at this time so not many pics were being taken for propaganda reasons, Does anyone have any combat pics of these being worn?? Post some pics of your tunic if you can!

Thanks for your contributions. Interestingly, the uniform I have came out of Latvia. I am unable to post pics directly but will try and post a link to some photos of my uniform in near future.

        Regards,
        Harry

            Hi Gary,
Do you have any pictures of SS officer's M44s in your archives?
            Thank you!

Hi Roy, there is a well known photo of several SS doctors taken in 1945 at one of the camps. One chap wears an M44 blouse with an M40 cap. The pic was taken by the British 15th Scottish Div I think? It has appeared in several books.

Another pic showing the blouse in wear, but by an NCO, was taken at Belsen.

              Cheers, Ade.
