            Hi Robin

How much do single Heydrich death mask stamps currently sell for?

            Best Regards
            Phil

Note the 'squint' SS runes on the SS-T franking stamp - just like the 'squint' runes proof stamp you see on the rear of some SS buckles.

                  Hello:
Anyone know if Lena Heydrich(widow)is still alive?
She had the actual cast death mask of her husband in her home as I recall.
                  I have her address somewhere...

It´s always funny to me when I see the some prices for these stamps. It was one of the most produced stamps. And on ebay or some dealers charge $9 for this stamps. I know certain stamp dealers they sell them for 0.50-max.1 Euro. Also in some shopping malls in germany like Karstadt have them.

                      Robert.

You are right. I remember seeing many Nazi stamps in a Karstadt in Berlin last year. No Heydrichs, but the stamps were very cheap. Only a few pence each, and every type under the sun, all franked.

A couple of years ago, a dealer in the UK wanted about £30 for a single Heydrich stamp!

The usual price for them here is about £5 for a good, used franked example. Unused go for about £3 each.

I think these are still good value. In the UK, that's cheaper than a gallon of petrol!

looking at the stamps i want to know if his nose was so big like shown in the stamps (have never been able to get a side portrait to see, that i could judge by myself).

                          Hi Robin,

Nice items. I would humbly suggest that the stamp is in fact for the 1st SS-TV Standarte "Oberbayern, 7th Hundertschaft. To my knowledge there were only five Totenkopf Standarten and true to German nomenclature, the Standarte number always preceeded the Sturmbann and Sturm numbers.

                          Christian,

Yes, Heydrich was nasally quite well-endowed. I remember seeing a very good profile view of him and it resembled the death mask image you see on the stamp.

Here's what I found by searching Google for Lina Heydrich.

"Heydrich had four children: Klaus, born in 1933; Heider, born in 1934; Silke, born in 1939; and Marte, born shortly after her father's death in 1942. In 1943, Klaus lost his life in a traffic accident. In 1944, Lina Heydrich had Heider removed from the Hitler Youth out of fear that he may meet the same fate as his father. After the war, Lina moved to the island of Fehmarn, located in the Baltic sea, where she operated a hotel. She died in 1985."

                              Darryl.
There were 17 SS-Totenkopf-Standarten (excluding cavalry etc), the last being formed in 1940. They then changed to an infantry designation and were split up amongst various other units. Sturm/Sturmbann numbers preceded Standarte numbers. The stamp is 1st Hundertschaft, 7th TK Standarte.
                              Regards,
                              Robin.
