Just an earlier M42 pattern used by the factory...Have seen the M42 pattern used before in several late war (44 date) Heer jackets.

      M43 tunic

      Hello,

Thank you all for your opinions

      Just 2 questions:-

      Why a M42? I thought straight pocket flaps indicates a M43.

Also, Besslein, please explain how you see the Italian cloth. I know you've handled many of them. Just curious.

      Regards

well how i can explain you that italian cloth is italian? eh thats the uniform cloth that was used for italian uniforms ,
the clasping of pocket is not qual,so its not a m43 one.

              Nice M42. WOW!
I'm with Exclesior on this.... was also under the impression that the tunic that started this thread was actually an M43 as to me it has straight pocket flaps...
and typical taller flaps as well, in comparision with M42 scalloped flaps which are narrower! (=post 20)
that's why I called it a late tunic... The blue-ish tone buttons is to me also an indicator its a later piece...
To me one pocket has a wrinkle... that's all....Perhaps I'm wrong, the Italian wool combo M42 would be puzzling to me...
but now I've learned its a ligit combination too! Cool!
Never knew M42's indeed did exist in post armistice Italian wool. Learned something new today!!Thanks Francesco!

Hi Nick, now I'm with you. From the new picture the tunic posted by Excelsior is undoubtedly an M43.

About the M42 made in Italian cloth, they were made sometimes also during the years 1943 and 44.

                Cheers
                Francesco
