    Just as a heads up...

If any of you are considering bidding on these two tabs on ebay....don't. They're Delta International reproductions.

    Thanks for the heads up.

Have you guys noted that sellers at Ebay, more and more refuse to type if its repro or original. That leaves you to decide this. If you pay a sum that reflects an original (you think its original) the seller will have the back free as he/they never said its original. Should it not be clearly branded REPRODUCTION when the item is that ?

    Cheers.

      Tony,

Is it the backing of the tabs that gives these ones away?

      Cheers,
      Ray.

Personally, I would never buy any SS insignia from any source without FIRST posting it here for discussion and getting your "Green Light", guys. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for that!

BTW, I wanted to ask you before, where I can buy a nice pair of repro officer collar tabs for my Junke tunic? (want to upgrade my "home use" uniform ). Is Delta International good source for it?
Or maybe somebody just wants to sell one?
        Thank you in advance!

Ray,the latvian tab embroidery doesn't have the right quality, the other wasn't even period-produced (they may have been planned but I've a feeling these are total fiction),and the backs are classic Delta.

          regards,

The one beside the Latvian one, is this the one which was ment to be given to the Rumanian SS volunteers from the Iron Guard in the Waffen-Grenadier-Regiment 103 (Rum.Nr1) and SS-Panzer-Zerstörer-Regiment (Rum.Nr2) ?

This also illustrates how we can't rely on the so-called SS map of 1945 to verify collar patches. The Iron Guard one appears on the map.

I think that this 'Iron Guard' tab originated from the SS map shown here on our colleague Rene Chavez excellent site :- http://axis101.bizland.com/GermanInsignias1.htm next to the Maria Theresa flower, but the Delta version has extended the spears or whatever they're supposed to be. These creatures are commonly to be observed nesting on the SS repro insignia pages of our favourite auction house (and the original SS insignia pages sometimes too ) along with it's cousin the lesser-spotted 'Charlemagne' sword tab

                  Regards,Ian.

Does anybody happen to know if the "SS map" was originally published in color?

                      Yes.

                      It was in colour.

The one mentioned above is actually slightly different to another version, which has additional badges.

                      Therein lies the problem.
