I did initially appreciate the design/proportions. I thought it looked familiar and may have had a chance.
After Ian's post I researched here and found this example. It seems to have a wider stance and wreath circle.

Jack, the eagle in post #14 of your link is an all together different bird.
I did not recognize it as a textbook embroidered eagle, but it did remind me of those that have been described as a type used on para smocks.
And I admit I haven't seen that kind of treatment on the back.
so gentlemen, sounds like these types are 'good'!!!?
certainly well made, and couple of 'vet provenance'
now another i've got to look for..........
