Recently picked up this post card photo showing some of the men of the SS-Standarte Deutschland in a more relaxed pre-war pose.

    Let's take a closer look.

Notice the nice early "D" embroidered shoulder boards with the twist aluminum edge, SS1 collar tabs w/twist aluminum edge & the tunics even have twist aluminum edge on the collars!

          Hi Chris,

          Inscription on car says:

          Durch die Heide
          Mit K. d. F.
          1938 (1939?)

          Translation:

          Across the Heide
          With K. d. F.

Across the Heide could translate as Across the countryside or it could be THE Heide which is the Lüneburger Heide in Northern Germany. K. d. F. is short for "Kraft durch Freude", the "holiday travels" program of the DAF.
          Cheers, Frank

Thanks Frank for the great info on this one.

So I would guess having your photo taken with this cart w/cut out horses might be some DAF fund raising event maybe?
At any rate, an interesting photo.
            Regards,
            Chris
