I just recieved the 8 matching Allgemeine SS/SS-VT from Helmut Weitze...I am satisfied but wanted to see what the Tony Barto Forum would say, considering on this site Weitze's credentials (or scruples)came into question concerning
the rumour(and fact) the shop was passing fakes as genuine articles.
There is the section "reproductions for collectors",nothing too expensive there..
Anyway, the Knopfe, all 8,are pictured on his shop site still under the
Insignia of the Schutzstaffeln,et cetera, and I wanted to hear some opinions!
They are the 5th or 6th item listed there now.
The reason I purchased the buttons was I have a stripped (and reparably, very slightly, damaged)
"Walking Out",Dress Uniform,in a nice handsome black wool,Allgemeine SS-Standartenfuhrer that came with a cape, also stripped,I could not afford.Sadly someone removed the original collar completely, then had a new one installed-but with light green thread--very loosely threaded. The other damage is the scalloped chest pocket on the right came undone, and that green thread was used to keep it in place. Its got the "glove pockets" and is configured for 3 medals.Private purchase and as good as it got then I think...no holes or rips,no mothing...one wear mark to the left fold back cuff.
I live in a very large City and will find a tailor who specializes in high quality jobs...maybe.That is where this idea hits rough patches..however,I enjoy the challenge. It is not Marine SA.
