Betr. Ra...er, I mean Dachau stamping

I guess it's fine to substitute any old camp after the Betr. marking - must have been a collaboration between Ravensbruck and Dachau!

This is in a M43 cap. What next.

    regards, Robert

The "r" in Betr. means Ravensbruck, to my understanding. So unless he had a stutter, the "manufacturer" stamped Bet. Ravensbruck Dachau.

Hmmm Besslein, I had the split wrong. Thank God for our international collecting partners!

So is this a possible real combination?

          regards, Robert

Dachau stored I can see, but manufactured...anyway, I thought it was an interesting attempt at being different.

              regards, Robert

besslein is correct; the German abbreviation for Betrieb is Betr. And so the markings for Ravensbrück are Betr. Ra.

Yes, it is. Which is why Betr Dachau is a probable mistake by a faker trying to make his piece even more exotic, and the point of this thread.

                        The marking is post war.
I am not aware of any specific Dachua marking.

teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.
