This is what happens when prices get outrageous!

Well, I don't know if anyone noticed some of the new fake SS eagles that were floating around the SOS, but I bought the nicest one that I found so that I could share it here. They have improved the finish and aging to the point of perfection. The back side is still bad, but here is how good the front looks. This is by far, the best looking fake that I have ever seen on the front side. They even added the bright CupAl edge. Still different die from the originals.

Anyway, I will let you guys look at the front for awhile and then I will
    post the back side later.

    Best, Chris

Sorry, I am dumb - what do you mean with CupAl edge?

Well, CupAl is a piece that is multi layered with more than one type of metal.
Usually, there will be an aluminum core sandwiched between a layer
of copper on front and back sides. Then, they were silver plate them.
Usually, when you look at the outer edge of a CupAl piece, you can see a bright aluminum edge where the dies sheered away the copper off of the edge, thus exposing the aluminum.

In this case, I think that they used the silver plating to imitate this effect.

Chris , that finish is very scary indeed .
Also a more convincing breast feather pattern than the older die-struck repros - thanks for sharing & please do post the reverse .. !

A master piece fake so far. And if there are eagles like this, then skulls can't be far behind.

The head design is still incorrect but the finish and 'wear' is reaching a new, disturbing level I take it it's bare copper on the back ?

                  Thanks for showing this Chris

Yeah these look good with the cupal appearance, I first saw them a few years ago, but as Chris will show the back is wrong. They have also done matching skulls.

No, don't leave the hobby, just keep your eyes open. Here is the reverse.
They will never get it all right.

                        Best,

Why did they make such a great job of the front ............ and such a poor job of the back?

Doesn't make sense ............. if it was meant to deceive.

Maybe it was never meant to fool anyone ...........
