What do you think of this italian wool cap?
Some appeared on the market ten years ago.

These are always tricky. But I see nothing wrong with it's construction. Refreshing to see something besides HBT on the inside as well.

              regards, Robert

I Agree with Robert, I think nobody wants to adventure in another unfinished discussion, expecially now with all the flashes on the Sos.still I like them and own one example.

                Kind regards,

                Salvatore

Do you know where they come from?
I also think that when they appeared on the market some years ago, they had no insignia.

I don't know where they first appeared.

This is a later-war pattern with the white piping and Italian gaberdine wool, and there was gunshow-level talk about a lot being made for insignia to be applied later. I never saw any of these with machine-sewn insignia that didn't go through the lining, but I've only handled a few of these.

The other camp says all fake. I think they are well-made to wartime standards, but just don't know if they are pre-1945.

                    regards, Robert

Again agree.I have seen on the internet three with insignia (late pattern), only one machine stitched ,others hand stitched, and yours is the fourth, they are quite identical.handled only the example i know.
I concur they are fine quality if late war issued.but there is controversy among collectors.you can make a quick search and will find many threads here about.

                      kind regards,
                      Salvatore

When it comes to these, I like those that have honest wear. Mint is OK, but a little saltyness would be preferred, IMO.
