    SS Eagle and Skull

    Hi, guys,

I have a couple of questions about the SS visor hat eagle and the skull. My eagle has a M1/40 maker mark on the back, made of aluminum. The skull doesn't have any marks at all. So, the question is if it's possible the skull is made without any makers marks, and has M1/40 mark ever existed on SS eagles?

    regards, Michael

    Hi,

Without even seeing it, I believe the eagle is a fake because that marking is not a known good marking, (but it is a common marking used on reproductions).
The skull is probably the typical fake aluminum unmarked skull that is usually seen with those fake eagles, but it is certainly a fake.
If it is aluminum and it is unmarked, it is a definite fake because
the use of aluminum on SS insignia was mid-period. Therefore, it would
not be pre-RZM or late-war and should always have RZM markings.
    Best, Chris

      Thanks guys,

later on I'll be able to send you the pictures. As for the skull it's made of other metal than aluminum and the guy who sold it to me said it's an early version of the skull. I just wonder, did they always use maker's marks or only on their later versions and where it's possible to get complete information about it.

      Regards, Michael

        Michael,
I agree with the comments made by chris, if its an early TK it should not be rzm marked anyway though , so probably best to wait and see the pictures of the items, below is a picture of one of the many fakes of the m1/40 eagle as it has been copied many times
        cheers,
        gary
