I think it would be more difficult to keep it like that than to spare it.

The tunic should not have been cut up IMHO.
It's relic condition is paramount to it's historic value!

Should have been cleaned and then framed.

What a drama, some of guys make it look like the nose of the sfinx in Egypt that was shot by Napoleon's troops.

                          Shocked

ARE you serious? Why would you do that? common sense you leave it untouched. Thats the first thing I learned in collecting. Your breaking it up to sell aren't you?

Oh my gosh...a combat damaged ss pattern (2 hole) tunic cut up tunic for the sake of displaying some insignia???
                              A real shame I think!
I wonder if it had SS stamps in the lining??? Probably! (now in the trash?)

You should have read that thread titled "any credible SS tunics out there?" You had one! (before you did this...)
A tragedy... it was a combat tunic... and often surviving SS tunics are either played with Heer tunics
or unissued SS depot survivors or on leave SS closet survivors... This one could have been a Feldlazaret survivor!

Calm down folks I think all (or most) of us have done some things we regret but made sense when we did it? Ever tried digging out a decal of a reissued helmet at some point? Or taking the liner out of the helmet of curiosity I have don stuff like that in the past before I knew any better.....and this is no different IMO. The code of collecting (if such exist) can be hard to know and impossible if you are new to it.

And......maybe the rest of the jacket is still there and the collar and sleeve can be sewn back on

                                Nice insignia by the way

                                Regards
                                Lars
