    What could this be..?

I once bought this together with a large old collection. Does anyone recognize this wooden SS plate? Is this a fantasie piece or original?

    thanks

    Plaque

I think the plaque is original but the marking on the back is not.

      I agree.

Is the eagle inlaid wood, decal, or printed on?
Any chance of a close up shot?

They forgot to put the runes first and totally forgot the "B", or maybe SS-BW was still in it's formative years.

Something has been removed from the bottom like a bust in a helmet or metal plate for an award.

              Luc,
I think your plaque was a calendar. They had brackets on them to hold a plate with the month, and 2 plates with numbers for the date.
              Regards,
              Fred

                  thanks for all reactions.

I do had the feeling that this could be good, but like told by some members I also saw the stamp, and tought this is a fantasy piece.

But on the other hand, the stamp can be good, because it looks like the one used in Wehrpasses, like a member told us.

There is a possibility that is was a calendar, there were 3 nails on the board. The quality of the wooden plate and the eagle is very nice.

                  Size: 24 x 34 cm
I put some extra scans of the plate.
                  thanks for all input!

                      Thanks for close-ups.
                      Original piece. Post war stamp.
Eagle looks like it was silkscreened right onto wooden plaque, then varnished, or possible decal, then varnished.(either way, 2 screens were used).

Maybe stamp is a Wehrpass stamp, but why would some one during the period stamp this plaque with it?
Probably was a fake, fakers stamp normally used in faking real blank(or doctoring) Wehrpasses that was used by some one in an attempt to increase value of an original item. It's a good thing it doesn't really ruin it at all, and can be removed if positively determined to be fake.
All this in my opinion only.

Cool item. Not sure of what was attached to front though.
