WEITZE: Opinion on three items pls!

    Guys,

A friend of mine is considering buying one of these items next week in Hamburg. I can't help him since I'm a paper buff, but I promised to post these for some opinions here in the forum.

    All input appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Markus

I like the shoulder boards and the collar tabs, but not the eagle.

          Thank you Luwig.

          Agree:

          Boards - o.k.

          Eagle - don't like it

Collar patches Oberfhr - I'm not convinced by these.
They seem a bit off-centered and don't have the same
'flow' as the ones pictured in Bender's Leibstandarte Vol.1
          for example.

          Others? Further opinions?

            The shoulderboards are nice.

For the eagle and the collar patches I don't like them. The eagle is an item that I have seen when I was in his shop in Hamburg in 2008 and for the collar patches I follow markus on his opnion.

            Cheers Ty

By no means am I really fimilar with these, but
comparing the position of the single acorn with the
tabs shown in the a.m. Bender book, I feel they are too
Close to the border of the tab.

                Any other thoughts?

Perhaps some other images if possible. Different lighting. They look OK to me. Some slight variations between the 2, but other than that....? FYI, There are some real eagles that look close to the one pictured, but I don't collect this version, so I will not comment.

I have seen Obergruppenfuhrer and General der Waffen SS tabs with the acorn close to the piping also. I say these are very nice examples...

Shoulder boards and tabs are original.
A consideration for quality is certainly evident in both these examples.
Placement of the leaves etc., is only determined by the way in
which the material was folded in the tabs' construction(hand made).
As for the eagle, this is not typical, however these were once again hand sewn
and the materials used were usually at the manufactures discretion.
The eagle is not 100% proof of originality.

I agree on the boards and tabs, they appear all original to me. The eagle may be O.K. too...I would want better close-up photos for sure.

The only thing that really stands out to me is the boards have been cut from a tunic and shortened, and that really affects their value to me. That may be just my personal taste but they could never be used for restoration, they are fine for an insignia display.

                          Weitze tabs

Not my field, but whether the collar tabs are real or not, I'd never call them a pair!
                          Tricky old subject isn't it?
                          Good hunting!

Agree, besides the differences already mentioned the pipings are not the same.
