Viking Ship Stick Pin

Hi Everyone,
A friend of mine sent me this piece. He was told it was for the 5th SS Division. I told him I didn't think it was but I would get some opinions on it. It looks like a period piece but other than that I don't know.

I cant help with identification but it almost looks period viking mounted on a modern pin

N idea what this is or even how old, but regarding that last remark: i only see two different sorts of metal? Soft metal ship, hard metal pin? Not sure if it is so new actually?

The ship appears to be zinc and most of the silver wash is gone.
It's not a new piece, it has quite a bit of age to it. I just don't know what it was for.
