    Two swedish SS-officers tunics:

Heino Meyer. SS-Ustuf. Wiking and Nordland. Complete with side-cap. M42 SS-Ustuf jacket with army shoulderstraps.

Gösta Borg. SS-Ustuf. SS-Standarte "Kurt Eggers" and Wiking veteran (1941). Complete with pants, boots, cap and belt as far as I understood it.

    Both in private collection.

I really do not think that owners of original SS tunics need to list them on a WAF database. It is not necessary as there are many buyers for authentic tunics and security is an issue with any premier collection.

Come on guys. I am not asking you to list addresses and publish the blue prints of your house, so everybody can come and steal your stuff.

I am just interested in finding out who knows of any named SS-uniforms out there that survived WWII. It just seems strange that there are almost no named tunics in circulation while at the same time there are all these minty unnamed tunics that keep showing up. That is just plain weird as I think most SS-officer uniforms, especially those of the early days from those guys that served in LAH, DR, TK, Wiking, were tailor made and therefore should have been named tunics. Most of Der Fuehrer or Das Reich tunics showing up on the market are all unnamed. If you are interested in genuine tunics like I am it is usfull to know which tunics actually did survive the war and have a long history because people knew of their existence for many years because they saw them at a MAX show or at some dealer or had them at one time or other in their collection. It just good to know that if someone offers you Otto Baum's uniform that you know that that one did survive the war because someone had it in their collection in the fifties or it was sold by Wolfe or Burmeister or who ever so many years ago. Nothing objectional I would think.

If I owned famous or more unknown ss officers uniforms i would certainly not tell a lot of UNKNOWN people on a forum about it.

What is out there is unknown, I think a lot more survived than we can imagine.
You just dont tell your neighbour, or your mother/father "hey mum, check my tunic, it belonged to a SS KZ commandant.." you keep it safe and secret.

If you really are interested in buying a truely genuine SS-uniform in the near future it will not be done by studying books or listen to known experts in the field.

If you want to become your own expert you surely need to see some true original uniforms - the best way to examine them close enough to develope yourself in an inspection in hand which official exhibitions like museums hardly allow.

So you need to get in contact with long-term collectors and build up trust and friendship so that you will be able to see something real good.

Do you really think you can build up trust by opening a thread like this one??
